About Typhis pungens

Physical Description

Is a small predatory snail, they can vary in size 10 to 30mm in lenght. They can easily be indentified as they are full of spikes covering the majority of the shell.

Age and Distribution

This Typhis pungens shell is from the Miocene of The Netherlands. This animal lived approximately 15 million years ago. Other Typhis  still live today in warmer marine climates We know that Typhis pungens lived with many kinds sharks, fish , other gastropods and bivalves as they can be found at the same location.
