About Polinices miocolligens

Physical Description

Is a predatory snail with a smooth shell, they can vary in size 10 to 30mm in lenght. They can easily be indentified as they have a very large opening where the animal could pop out.

Age and Distribution

This Polinices miocolligens shell is from the Miocene of Belgium. This animal lived approximately 15 million years ago. Other Polinices still live today in warmer marine climates We know that P. miocolligens lived with many kinds sharks, fish , other gastropods and bivalves as they can be found at the same location.
